Made for Tiny Hands, Kept for Life

Our Story

Growing up, every child has that one toy they would never give away or forget. The one that travels everywhere, gets washed a hundred times, loses an eye, and gains a story.

At Patti Oslo, we design with that toy in mind. The one that stays.

Founded in Oslo by Sha Johansen, Patti Oslo creates handcrafted friends that blend Scandinavian simplicity with traditional crochet craft. Each friend is designed in our Grünerløkka studio and brought to life by a team of skilled women artisans in Turkey, one stitch at a time.

We work with carefully chosen natural materials, including GOTS-certified organic cotton, natural maple wood, and wool. Materials selected not only for their quality, but for the way they feel in small hands. Soft, comforting, made to be loved, and kind to the planet they will grow up in.

Our friends are crafted to be held, carried, loved, and remembered. The handcrafted crochet texture invites children to touch, grip, and explore, while the timeless design allows each piece to belong as naturally in a home as it does in a child's arms.

We believe the most meaningful things are not replaced. They are repaired, treasured, and passed on. That is why we create toys with longevity in mind; childhood friends that may one day become keepsakes.

Because the best stories are the ones that stay with us.

No two are exactly alike.

We call them look-alike friends.

Childhood memories

My childhood memories have always stayed with me.

As a child, I loved making bracelets and selling them to neighbours for ice cream money. Growing up in a creative family, I was surrounded by craft from an early age. My mother crocheted and knitted, my father worked with wood as a hobby, and creating things by hand felt like a natural part of everyday life.

That curiosity eventually led me to study fine arts and photography, first at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in Istanbul and later at Fachhochschule Bielefeld in Germany.

Years later, after moving to Oslo, the city where my father used to live, I designed and crocheted a bunny and brought it to a local design market in Grünerløkka.

When I was expecting my first child, I found myself thinking about my childhood toy friends and the memories they carried.

Patti Oslo was born from that feeling.

Today, every friend we make is designed in Grünerløkka, brought to life by skilled women artisans in Turkey, and made to stay.

Made Slowly

As orders grew, it became difficult to keep up with crocheting and packing on my own, especially during my third trimester.

After some research, I reached out to an artisan mother in Turkey. Together, we began building a small workshop where women could learn the craft and earn an income through their work.

The team grew slowly. Some women were already skilled, others wanted to learn. Over time, we found each other.

Today, we work with around thirty skilled women artisans. Each one brings her own technique and craft.

Without them, Patti Oslo would not exist.

Every piece holds the trace of the hands that made it.

The World of Our Friends

Our friends are made to be part of everyday childhood. Carried from room to room, included in games, kept close in quiet moments.

Some become part of stories and small adventures. Others are simply held for comfort. Over time, they naturally find their place in a child’s memories.

Our intention is simple: to make things that live gently in the world and stay close to those who love them.

Nordic Simplicity

Our designs are shaped by calm Scandinavian simplicity, influenced by the tones and stillness of Oslo.

We focus on form and material, creating objects that feel familiar in a child’s hands and in the home.

The simplicity of each friend allows space for open-ended play. They shift gently between imagination and everyday life.

We design with longevity in mind. Objects that feel considered, gentle, and made to last.
